Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred honored at 2020 AHP Equine Media Awards

Vinnie Perrone’s tribute to the late race-caller Dick Woolley was one of seven awards for the magazine for material published in 2019 and presented at the American Horse Publications Equine Media Awards May 30. The awards presentation was held virtually after the association’s equine media conference and awards program, originally scheduled for May 28-30 in Lexington, Ky., was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Northview Stallion Station to consolidate operation and sell Pennsylvania division

Management of Northview Stallion Station, one of the largest stallion operations on the East Coast, has made the decision to consolidate and focus on the Maryland division. The Pennsylvania property in Peach Bottom, which houses four stallions, is being put up for sale. Northview PA will continue to operate normally until the property is sold or, should it not sell by fall, until November 30, at which time the resident stallions will be moved to the Maryland division.

Maryland Hunt Cup hero Senior Senator dies of colic

Appeared in the May 2020 issue of Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred. 

Star timber horse Senior Senator, who missed a chance to win a fourth Maryland Hunt Cup when the 2020 race was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, died of colic at the University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Center veterinary hospital April 15. The Pennsylvania-bred was 10 years old.

Windsor Castle gone

January 15, 2020. 

Taylor Mountain Farm announced today that Windsor Castle died last evening at the age of 22. The son of Lord Carson–Frigidette (It's Freezing) was a multiple graded stakes winner of $591,715. At stud at Taylor Mountain since 2004, he sired 36 stakes horses, led by millionaire DOWN TOWN ALLEN.
