Preakness Stakes-winning jockey Donnie Miller Jr. and Eclipse Award-winning apprentice rider Allen Stacy donned their jockey silks once again and jumped into the icy waters of the Chesapeake Bay for the 16th annual Maryland Special Olympics Polar Bear Plunge. The plunge was held Saturday Jan. 28 at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis.

The retired riders plunged as part of the Maryland Million Horse Force, the official team of the Maryland Million which raised over $3,000 for Special Olympics Maryland and consisted of 16 members, including trainer Tim Keefe. All team members wore jockey silks as they jumped into the bay waters three times.
Olympian Kimmie Meissner, a world champion figure skater from Harford County, was among the event’s plungers, and joined Maryland Million Horse Force to plunge again as the team took their third and final trip into the water.
Maryland Million Horse Force joined over 14,000 other people plunging in support of Special Olympics Maryland. All together, over $2,000,000 was raised.
