June 13, 2013. James Glover’s Ile St. Molly will try to keep exceeding expectations when she meets eight rivals in the $75,000 Go For Wand Stakes at Delaware Park this Saturday.  A victory in the mile-and-a-sixteenth test for 3-year-old fillies could propel the home-bred daughter of Ile St. Louis into an opportunity of a lifetime.  The race, named after the Hall of Fame filly locally-owned by Christiana Stables, is a prep race for the mile-and-a-sixteenth $300,000 Grade II Delaware Oaks to be run on July 13.

 
In her most recent, her first career race beyond seven furlongs, the Arkansas-bred conditioned by locally-based Kenny Smith posted a ¾-length triumph in the one-mile $50,000 Our Mims Stakes at Delaware Park on May 18.  Previously, she finished fourth in the six-furlong $75,000 Instant Racing Stakes at Oaklawn Park on April 12.  Her two other career victories occurred in stake races.  On March 29, she posted 3 ¾-length win in the Arkansas-bred restricted $60,000 Rainbow Miss at Oaklawn Park.  Last year, she broke her maiden in her career debut in a six-furlong restricted stake at Louisiana Downs.   
 
“She is doing great,” said Smith.  “She came out of her last race in great shape.  She came out bouncing.  She ran a really good race, and it really did not take much out of her.  I was surprised she got the distance as easy as she did in the Our Mims.  This race will be tougher for her, but we will see what happens.  Before the Our Mims, she was acting like she wanted to go a little longer, so that is why we decided to run in it.  This race is a little longer and will be a whole lot more challenging.  There will be more speed, and we will just have to see how she handles this next step.” 
 
Smith is taking a wait-and-see approach with his filly, who has earned $104,370, before thinking about the Delaware Oaks.
 
“We are going to take it one step at a time,” Smith said.  “We are kind of in unexpected territory with this filly, so we do not want to get too far ahead of ourselves, but we will cross that bridge if we get to it.” /Delaware Park press release
