Bayern, a $320,000 two-year-old sold last May at Fasig-Tipton Midlantic in Timonium, won a Maiden Special Weight for three-year-olds by 3 1/4 lengths in his initial start at Santa Anita on January 4.  Trained by Bob Baffert, the colt was piloted by Gary Stevens.
