April 27, 2012.  (Charles Town, WV) – The jockey-trainer combination of Jose Montano and Jeff Runco have teamed up for plenty of success recently, but nothing as big as Friday night, when the duo produced 4 winners in the first 8 races of Charles Town’s card.

“Everything came together tonight,” said Runco, who also sports a 6 win day in his career that includes over 3,000 winners as a trainer.  “We got the horses in good spots and they ran well.”

The evening kicked off with Silverton Hill’s Maggy Mac, breaking her maiden in the first race at even money.  That was quickly followed up in the second race, as Montano guided Miss Sarah Brown ($10.40) to a front running score.  The third win came in Race 4 on the card, when Windsor’s Secret ($5.80) held on by a diminishing half-length over Money Issues.  The evening was capped in Race 8 when Jens Angel ($7.80), scored by 2 lengths in a $10,000 claiming event.

Runco credits Montano, an apprentice who rode is first race in the U.S. less than a year ago, with a lot of Friday night’s success.

“The jockey’s riding very good right now.  He really works very hard and he deserves this.”

Montano, who won 3 races on back to back cards on March 28 and 29, was also happy to share in the accomplishment.

“Good trainer, good horses,” said Montano.  “It was special.”
